Lessons Learned as an Intrapreneur – Launching a Startup Inside Michelin
As the way we consume goods and services evolves, startup companies are disrupting traditional business models of large organization. These big corporations are rushing to adapt their rigid business processes to embrace the lean and nimble innovation methodology that has allowed the best new startups to thrive.
Wes Johnson, a corporate entrepreneur (or intrapreneur) tells his story of building an on-demand service startup, Michelin OnSite, inside of the Michelin Global Incubator. He will share the successes and pitfalls that come along when the entrepreneurial spirit and lean startup mindset is applied inside of a large global corporation.
Wes Johnson is an engineer, entrepreneur, and product developer based in Greenville, SC. Wes has held product development, engineering, innovation, and operations leadership roles at startups as well as Global 500 firms. Most recently he has co-founded Parmetric Inc. (www.parmetric.com), an online service that allows product developers to get parts manufactured faster and easier than ever possible before. Wes is a graduate of Clemson University (BSME), bona fide gearhead and lifelong tinkerer.
